Los Guido Children's Center

UPDATE (May 2010):   

   As you can read in our latest newsletter, the clubhouse where we met each Saturday for three years was dismantled in February by city authorities.  Our sadness was compounded by the fact that several of our kids' families also lost their homes.  We first decided to keep meeting on the concrete slab, but this lasted only a few weeks, until another family built a house there.  Pastor Edgar then offered us use of the church's feeding center, and we decided to decorate it and turn it into our new clubhouse.  The Lord is faithful, and the children continue to come each week for our activities. The pictures below show the situation over the past few months. Thank you for your prayers for this entire community.    

Below is the former front of the Light of Hope Child  Development Center in Los Guido, a slum area in southern San Jose.  At the invitation of the local Methodist pastor, we've been holding Saturday sessions since March 2007, providing food, songs, games, and the message of God's love to 60-80 children from the area. 

With donations from churches in the States, in 2007 we were able to paint the front (which has the center's name in Spanish) and change the tin roof before the rainy season began.  In 2008 we were able to paint the inside of the center as well. 

We ask you to please continue to pray for this ministry, these children, and their families.
